Apply for "Seeds of Change" Microvouchers

Openworld is offering 500 microscholarships in coming months to fund digital "work-study" projects by students at entrepreneurial schools for the poor to create video clips on opportunities for sustainability. The initiative is funded by recent grants from John C. Whitehead, former coChairman of Goldman Sachs, Jack Pearce, and the Explorers Foundation. Online Work-Study Projects and Virtual Internships


Work-study projects and internships are two ways for students and new jobseekers to begin building resumes and gaining experience.  Work-study projects are often smaller in scale than internships and are less demanding in skill requirement.  Internships are often a good option for those with moderate experience or tuition in a certain field, such as English or IT.  Below are some examples of possible opportunities and services that appeal to leading international firms.

 

Short-Term Work-Study Projects

  • Conducting keyword searches on a specific topic and returning a list of best links and a summary
  • Translating an online advertisement into another language
  • Preparing a diagram or sketch to accompany a narrative or insert into a PowerPoint slide
